About the Edmonds Historical Museum

Become a Member Today!

The museum building has two floors. The upper floor features an exhibit gallery which offers temporary rotating displays, a diorama depicting the 1910 Edmonds town site and waterfront, and the Cook Victorian Parlor. The upper level also houses the administrative office, work rooms, a local history library and an extensive photography archive. The public is encouraged to use the research library, with an advance appointment.

The ground floor consists of the long-term exhibit conceived to commemorate the centennial of the incorporation of the City of Edmonds 1890/1990. "The Changing Face of Edmonds" is an encapsulated, thematic, and chronological history exhibit, interpreting the many changes that have taken place, from the age of exploration and discovery, through the founding and growth of the city, and up to the 1950s when the last mill closed. Highlights of the exhibit include a reconstruction of a room from the 1894 Stevens Hotel, and a working model of a shingle mill, representative of the mills that filled the waterfront at the turn of the century.

Everett Arboretum

Wouldn't it be wonderful to visit a place that had a large variety of plants, labeled and growing with compatible plants; a place that you could go to for inspiration for your own garden? And wouldn't it be great if you didn't have to fight traffic to get there? Well, have we got news for you! Right here in Snohomish County such a place exists. It's called the Evergreen Arboretum & Gardens. The facility is open daily year round from dawn to dusk free of charge.

Founded in 1963, it is tucked into the West side of Everett's Legion Park and remains undiscovered to many county residents. It is now enjoying a resurgence of interest with the regional fascination in landscaping and gardening. the Arboretum is ready to offer not only ideas pertinent to todays home gardener, but the relaxed enjoyment of a peaceful, beautiful setting.

We seem not to be limited by imagination, but by funds and hands-on support. This is where you can really help! Consider volunteering on one or more of the eight work days each year. No gardening experience required, just your enthusiasm.

About Us

When you step through the Little and Lewis blue entrance columns, you are truly transported to a place of beauty and peace. Trees, shrubs, perennial gardens, a rock garden, Japanese Maple Walk, outdoor pavilion plus sculptures and an incredible fountain, work together to form a unique Snohomish County destination.

True to the original mission statement in 1963, a large portion of the collection is labeled for the enlightenment of the public. Its beauty changes with the seasons, making it a place that you will want to visit over and over again.

VISION STATEMENT OF EVERGREEN ARBORETUM AND GARDENS

MISSION STATEMENT OF EVERGREEN ARBORETUM AND GARDENS

StoryBook Theater

StoryBook Theater was founded in 1998 with very specific goals in mind – first and foremost, to introduce very young audiences to the magic and wonder of live musical theater. To meet that goal we, Lani Brockman and Susan Bardsley , (with the creative collaboration of our talented professional actors) write 55-minute musicals aimed specifically at the 3 to 10-year-old, while not forgetting the parents, grandparents and teachers who bring them to the theater. Our shows are enjoyed by children and adults alike! We combine beautiful, bright costumes with our gorgeous “storybook” sets, then add them to songs, dances and clever, updated fairy tales, to produce musicals for young audiences and their families.

An important value that we integrate into every performance is audience participation. StoryBook characters ask questions of the audience and expect answers!

StoryBook audiences sing and dance! StoryBook audiences sometimes have chase scenes happen right among them! StoryBook audience members occasionally help us on stage!

The creators of StoryBook also believe in including life lessons in our shows. Cinderella learns (and teaches) not to judge someone by his or her outside. The 3 Pigs learn about cooperation and working together. The Emperor learns that his new clothes are not as important as who is inside those new clothes. We believe in fairness and treating others with respect and carefully try to fill our shows with those messages.

All in all, StoryBook Theater is a short, fun, enriching experience for families and school groups; and you can't beat our ticket prices! Join us for a fabulous and fun theater experience!
